This week's microfiction is a 100-word story about a delicious meal.

Many (but not all) of my micro stories are inspired by prompts provided by THE FICTION DEALER Substack. I highly recommend checking it out if you’re interested in reading more microfics — or writing your own!

Reservation

You waited two months to secure a spot on the waitlist, then another four to obtain a reservation; now the maître d' escorts you and your date to an intimate table for two.

The waiter takes your drink order: a sweet port to complement the salty flavor of the entrée, already ordered.

The wait for food is not long, as you donated your sample months ago. Lab-grown meat is all the rage. Your mouth waters when you catch the scent—like pork—coming your way.

You smile at your date. Sip your drink. Take a bite.

Mmm. You taste delicious.
