This week's microfiction is a 100-word story about a robot who just wants to fit in.
Many (but not all) of my micro stories are inspired by prompts provided by THE FICTION DEALER Substack. I highly recommend checking it out if you’re interested in reading more microfics — or writing your own!
Flesh and Wire
L0R3N, acutely aware of its status as the only artificially alive being on the ship, focused its circuity on remedying the nonbelonging it felt despite its programming.
From browsing millions of images, audio, and text files, L0R3N determined skin was vital to humanity for undetermined reasons beyond its biological purpose.
L0R3N scanned its metal exoskeleton. How could it ever look like the humans?
After days of processing, L0R3N concluded it had erred in its assumption. It calculated a new objective. And when the ship landed, the crew was found stripped of their troublesome skin.
They looked more like robots now.
